Poplar Hill School Capital Study

Mid May, Poplar Hill First Nation received notice from INAC of approval for "Non-Core Minor Capital Approval" on funding for a "School Capital Planning Study".

Consultants were interviewed and AGB Architects of Winnipeg were retained for services to prepare the "School Capital Planning Study".  Initial meeting was held May 31 in Poplar Hill and a "School Study Committee" was established with Mario Wassaykeesic appointed as Chairperson.

"Enrolment Projections" were accepted by INAC by letter dated October 26, 2006.

Communities who've been thinking of launching a wind or other renewable energy project will soon see their window of opportunity closing before it's even opened.

School Energy Audit

Keewaytinook Okimakanak Public Works initiated an energy consumption study of existing school buildings.  The investigated is supported by ANCAP Funding.

Field work investigation was conducted the week of October 23 - 27; visiting Kejick Bay (Lac Seul), Kasabonika, Bearskin Lake, Sachigo Lake, Keewaywin, Sandy Lake High School, Sandy Lake Elementary School & Muskrat Dam. (Eight schools in five days)
